changing stator 1998 Arctic Cat 454 4x4

my dad got a Arctic Cat 454 4x4, it been helping our family for decades. recently my dad threw in an aftermarket stator on it.

Now, I heard that we need to swap a couple of wires around to get it working right. Anyone know off the top of their head which two wires need to be switched? My dad is 65 and I want to help him

Of course wire color wont match with OEM if you're buying aftermarket and you'll find that usually the yellow and white or yellow and green need swapping, but it depends on the brand n the end

Yeah, the old Arctic Cats are soo powerful. I won't be surprised if it'll last you a couple decades more. I'm pretty sure the white and yellow should be swapped. Flip them at the regulator plug. Worked on mine at least

I agree with @marie_xx, sometimes the aftermarket stator might have the charging wires, which are often yellow or white, coming out in a different order, and the voltage regulator might be sensitive to that.
It's really hard to say definitively which two wires to swap without knowing the specific aftermarket stator brand and model, and how it compares to the original Arctic Cat wiring for that 454 4x4.
I think you should find a wiring diagram for both the specific aftermarket stator and the OEM Arctic Cat 454 4x4, then compare them to see if any lines are reversed in the connector.

Hi! When you say the regulator might be sensitive to wire order, does that mean it could fry if the wires are mismatched? Also, do you know if certain stator brands tend to follow OEM wire colors, or is it all over the place? Got a used '96 Arctic Cat 454. Thanks!
