ATV has a weak battery still worth buying

There's this used ATV I wanna pick up (500cc class), and everything looks good except the battery is on its last leg, the seller says it'll start with a jump but dies quick if left sitting, so definitely not holding a charge.

And yeah I know batteries aren't a huge deal to replace, but could this weak battery be a red flag for deeper electrical issues because I'd hate to have any other issues but if it's just this battery, no problem, I'll throw in a new AGM or lithium and call it a day. But I'd love to hear if anyone has had any experience where a dying battery was the harbinger of something worse
So what do you think, is it still worth buying if everything else checks out, or should I dig deeper

If everything else looks good, a weak battery isn't the end of the world,they do tend to wear out, especially if the bike's been parked for a while. Still, it's a good idea to give it a quick check just to be on the safe side. If you can, use a multimeter to test the charging voltage while the bike is running, it should be in the range of 13.5 to 14.5 volts. If it's way off from that, it might be a signal that the stator or the regulator has issues. Oh, and check for any signs of corrosion on the terminals or signs of heat damage. If everything looks clean, I'd reccommend swapping in a new AGM or lithium battery and getting back on the road. By the way, what year and model are we talking about here?

A bad battery doesn't mean a bad avt, it means the battery is bad, probably. @ArcticRider is right, if you can measure the output with the atv running will give you an idea if it's charging properly. A failing system will give lower readings, meaning it won't charge the battery as much as it should, so the electronics will draw power from the battery as well, not just the charging system

look, a dying battery often masks a deeper issue with the charging system. The battery is just the symptom.
