Mine's due for an oil change. Wondering what type of engine oil and filter you all would recommend? It's currently running a K&N KN-142 filter, but I'm not sure if that's ideal. No manual on hand, so any tips would be awesome!

For the oil itself, you'll want a quality 5W-30 or 10W-40 ATV-specific oil.
You can find great choices with brands like Amsoil, Maxima, or even the OEM Arctic Cat oil are great choices.
As for the filter, the K&N KN-142 is a common option and should work just fine, so no need to rush and change it unless you want to.
You could also stick with the stock Arctic Cat filter or use a reputable brand like Hiflofiltro, which is often a more affordable and reliable alternative.
Don't forget to warm the engine up a bit before draining the oil, and be sure to replace the crush washer on the drain plug to prevent leaks! Good luck with the change!

Not sure about the oil, but here are my thoughts about the filter. K&N filter are advertised as high flowing, meaning there's less restriction than the regular paper ones and is the main reason why some say they're bad for the engine. Being less restrictive means more dirt goes into the intake and ends up in the engine, which can be a problem with these kinds of vehicles, but here's the thing, the company has been in business for almost 60 years and if the filtration was that bad, we'd probably see a lot more blown up engines by now.
